Here’s from a proud owner of tickets to catch Lady Gaga!
HELLOOOOOO.
Series of events leading to this:
Woke up 10 mins early, left home at 8.10am, caught earlier bus, reached office at 8.50am, rang Ida up to make sure she was up to give me moral support, officially booked it at 9.02am.
Now, at 9.18am, EARLY BIRDS DISCOUNT IS GONE. MUAHAHAHA.
I must say, I’m pretty impressed. Firstly, I’m glad Earth Hour became a large scale event in Singapore. As it originated from Sydney 2 years back, I first noticed it on Facebook and thought it was a pretty cool idea to make everyone switch off their lights consciously for an hour. I’m sure the change is rather noticeable, as opposed to Keith who is skeptical of this idea. :p
My family took a trip down to town earlier just to check out the response from the offices, malls and others that are in town, that is while leaving our house lights off. And from what I remember, it wasn’t too bad. One of the two durian shells of the Esplanade was switched off. The flyer was glistening in extremely faint blue light. Most of the offices in CBD were off. As for the hotels, their names were mostly unlit.
I think these are real baby steps but probably have a pretty large impact. Firstly, educating the public of such a cause and such a need, I think it did pretty well. Next, by getting the companies to participate in this, the outcome was rather decent. And to have hotels even participate in switching off the air-conditioning was a bold step!
Although I think more lights could’ve been off as town was still rather well-lit, all in all it wasn’t too bad! Hopefully this event will just get bigger and better through the years. Without even considering global warming and all that jazz, I think it’s just a great reminder that we don’t need all those lights on, hence it’s time to switch them off.
Presentations after presentations, I was struggling just to keep afloat. But here I am, at the end of the week, feeling like such a survivor. Just a few weeks ago, I was feeling so terrible, like I was sinking to rock bottom, and breaking down. It was a terrible terrible feeling. Just so swamped! But now, everything’s turned out fine and I’m happy again!!
On top of that, I had an awesome time at Jason Mraz’s gig exactly two weeks back.
He sang Lucky with Joi Chua too. Strange but I thought it was one of the best collaborations across the globe. Best harmonising Apart from Colbie Caillat of course!
Definitely one of the best gigs (I’ve been to) of all time. Thoroughly enjoyable and Seige was just a pleasure to go to gigs with. HEH!
Just two days ago, also caught Brian McKnight as part of the Mosaic Fest. SUPERB quality, seriously!
He sang with local girl Michaela, who had one of the most amazing voices I’ve ever heard from a Singaporean!
Conclusion:
Fall Out Boy – was just utter fun because of the moshing. Quality wasn’t great but it was fun. All-American Rejects – so much enthusiasm it was crazy. Good singing but way short. But nice. Jason Mraz – definitely my favourite since we could pretty much sing to everything. Always wanted to catch him Brian McKnight – SUPERB voice. also fun that he brought his sons along and they sound like the dad, though obv the dad’s stronger. :p
Whew I’m back. From the nokia party at zouk and all american rejects was awesome.
Not much time but here’s a good pic!
Anyhow, today was fun. free ice cream at island creamery, window shopping down orchard, AAR… whee!
I better get going. Gotta shower and pack and sleep and wake up in 4.5 hours. Oops.
Just a shout out to my dear Keith, this holiday made me realise you hardly ever, ever cancel on me. Haha. For some reason I got cancelled on a gazillion times this holidays. You’re the best and thanks for always being there. We’ve come a long way!!
Feeling much better today! (: MUCH LOVE TO AILEEN. finally got to hang out with her! a week ++ is really like a year in girl’s context, as i quote bride wars. HAHAHA. so bloody bimbotic that made me cry buckets. grrr. my tap needs a knob!
last week was fall out boy week. i just knew about the tickets i won about 4 days before the concert, and was frantic about collecting it but i managed to and brought seige along with me. and boy was it a blast! i’m still young, i’m gonna mosh while i can!!! screw maturity, i just wanna bounce around in the mosh pit, scream and wear black tops and sneakers. HELLO TEENS.
This is as close to steady hands as possible. HAHA.
Amazing experience. The last time I moshed was probably Simple Plan, and the various MTV Asia Awards held in Singapore. I was probably too young to appreciate moshing then. HAHA. I’d probably just annoy my then-self. Whee.
Vday this year was interesting too! Keith took me down to millenia walk to enjoy some carnivorous meal at Outback Steakhouse! YUMMYYY.
Even though it didn’t end up very eventful cos of me (lol), it was still a nice day. ) THANKS FOR THE FOODIES!
